What's the deal with chips?
Chips are separate from points. Chips are valid ONLY IN THE CASINO. Each SCN member starts the day off with 100 chips that you can use to play games in the casino. Each game costs a different amount of chips to play; some more, some less. Each game also pays off different amounts if you win. Just like in a real casino, the more you risk the higher your winnings will be. Certain games allow you to bet as many chips as you want, while other games have set bets or costs. Roulette, for example, is a no limit game, meaning that you can bet as much as you want each time. Video Poker, on the other hand, costs 25 chips to play no matter what, and the winning amounts never change.

What happens when I cash out?
When you cash out, your chips are turned into SCN points, according to this formula:

  Points = Chips / 50

There are a few exceptions though. If you have 25,000 chips or more, your cashout limit is set at 500 points. That means that if you have 25,001 chips or 1,000,000 chips, you still cash out at 500 points.

How do I win bonus points?
If you are one of the top three chip leaders at the end of the day (which is defined as precisely 12:12:00 AM EST), you will win bonus points, according to this formula:
  • First place - 3,000 points
  • Second place - 2,000 points
  • Third place - 1,000 points

In addition, you also win points for being a top game leader. For example, let's say that you're playing roulette. Over the course of the day, you win over 400,000 chips - way more than anyone else. But, you took those 400,000 chips and bet them all at once in roulette and lost! (oh no!) Now you have zero chips. You lose, right? Wrong! We know how many chips you win cumulatively for each game, regardless of how many chips you have total at the end of the day. So, the top winners of each game will win 500 bonus points at the end of the day, in addition to any other bonus points they win (i.e. top casino winner).

What is cashing in?
When you cash in you use your SCN points to buy chips, at the rate of 50 chips per point. Why would you do this? If you went bust (lost all your chips) really quickly, you should spend a few points to get back in the game (especially if it's early in the day). You can only cash in if you have less than 25 chips, which is the cost of the most expensive game. If you have more than this, you should go try your luck again and come back to cash in only if you lose. You may only cash in to 500 chips. After that, it's up to you to get more! We recommend cashing in only in a crunch.

What happens at the end of the day?
At the end of the day, three things happen:
  1. The top three winners are determined. They will win 3,000, 2,000, and 1,000 points, respectively.
  2. The top game winners for the day are determined. Each top game winner will win 500 points each.
  3. Everyone else is cashed out - if you are not one of the top three overall for the casino, you will be cashed out with whatever chips you have at the end of the day.

Why should I cash out then?
I know. Your probably asking yourself, "If the top chip winners have a chance to win thousands of points, and I'm cashed out anyway at the end of the day, why would I ever cash out beforehand?" Well, the main reason is the Auctions. If you're bidding on an auction and need points right away, cashing out of the casino is a quick way to get extra points in a crunch. Besides that, the only reason you would cash out is if you simply wanted your hard earned points right away.
